Silent
Reflux can be worse than normal Reflux. Silent Reflux is much harder for parents to recognize. You may see that your child has a lot of the symptoms of reflux but there isn't much if any vomiting. Watch for 'gulping' sounds, choking episodes and bad or sour breath. Silent reflux is scary because it will often go undiagnosed and untreated yet, because it poses a greater risk for damage it is even more important to treat. If you suspect this is happening to your child contact his/her pediatrician. They can run tests to determine if reflux is present. See Also: Silent GastroEsophageal Reflux Disease in patients with pharyngolaryngeal cancer. (it is also pertinent to non-cancer patients). |
